Are you just doing this to annoy me ?

It’s 1971, and Brian and Aurélie have just set up home with their four children, a million miles from London, in a small hilltop village in the south of France. Brian needs light, he needs sunshine, but most of all, he needs calm… serenity… quiet…
But, his studio overlooks a forest. Of what type? The type made up of a pine most favoured by the tap-tapety-tapping-red-cockaded-woodpecker! Yep! And boy, can they make a racket ! This unforeseen irritation sparked an idea, a story of neighbourly annoyances that lead to a most unlikely bond and a fabulous friendship, and the book, The Owl and the Woodpecker. It marked the beginning of another long love affair between Brian and this lil’ noisy bird, who makes guest appearances in so many of Brian’s books. But that didn’t stop us from moving… to the other side, the quieter side of the village!
