Designed and printed by Brian’s son, Simon, to celebrate ‘The World of Brian Wildsmith’ exhibition in Brian’s home town of Barnsley in Yorkshire - 20th April 2024 to 4th Jan 2025, this large, signed limited edition print reaches back to where it all began.
The A B C ! Brian’s 1962, Kate Greenaway medal winning book that changed everything in the world of children’s books. With its wildly expressive and vibrant art, It was the book that launched the artist, the phenomenal career and a further 81 books.
Just as the original book was conceived to excite and stimulate children’s imaginations and learning, so does this print, 62 years later !
Adding to the story-telling and learning opportunities this print provides, Simon has introduced all 26 letters of the alphabet at the foot of the print in both upper and lower case. These letters, in 26 named colours, were all sourced within the artwork. Notions of lighter and darker are also introduced to the lower case letters.
