Banter with Brian - A dialogue in colour - Limited edition, numbered & autographed prints.

These prints are a conversation across time—playful, visual banter with my father, Brian Wildsmith. With his left hand, he brought these animals to life on plain white paper; with my right, I introduce new characters, shift their scale, and set them in worlds of colour. Light touches spark new stories, which lead to further musings, word play and questions, keeping our dialogue alive.

Our chats—over wine and cigars—were filled with humour, irony, and satire, often laced with a more serious undercurrent. We put the world to rights, knowing that wit can sharpen the dull and soften the dark. I miss those quips and puns as well as our creative collaborations, and so, in some sense, I continue them here !

Each print is a limited, numbered edition of 131—his age when he painted them, plus mine today. They are autographed on the back of each print.

Printed on Hahnemühle 290 gsm Bamboo paper, chosen not just for its soft, beautiful, lightly textured surface, but for its environmentally conscious production—an ideal canvas for a collection rooted in past and present, legacy and renewal.
